President and CEO
Dessinae Houston is the Founder, President, and CEO of Houston Unification & Guidance Services (H.U.G.S.), a Metro Detroit–based nonprofit supporting justice-involved youth and families through education, reentry, and stabilization services. With extensive experience in youth services, housing stability, community health, and public service, Dessinae founded H.U.G.S. to address the gaps she witnessed firsthand in systems impacting young people returning to their communities. Her work is grounded in trauma-informed, equity-centered practice and a deep belief in community-led solutions. Through collaboration and sustainable programming, Dessinae is committed to reducing recidivism, strengthening families, and expanding opportunity for Detroit youth.
